あらすじ
1958年、バージニア州。白人男性のれんが職人、リチャード・ラビングは、子どものころから親しいアフリカ系女性ミルドレッドから妊娠したと告げられ、彼女に結婚を申し込む。だが当時の同州では異人種同士の結婚は禁じられ、2人は仕方なく首都ワシントンに行って結婚し、地元に戻って新居を構えることに。だが、そこにブルックス保安官がやって来て2人を逮捕し、2人に離婚するか、州外に引っ越すかという選択を迫る。
